As an Indian Guyanese, it seems to me that our narrative is to tek we licks, shut we mouths, hold abee noses and vote fu the PPP, and any Indian who speak against this narrative dey must be a racist. No Indian will return to Guyana to live, unless the bureaucracy, including the security forces, is balanced racially.

It is true that the height and chest requirements for entry to the Police force did not encourage Indian enlistment.However,it is also true that socially many Indians looked down on such jobs and preferred agricultural and self employment.Added to this was the use of the zpolice to intimidate PPP activists who were mostly Indians.Arising from these interactions was a quiet but subtle attempt by Indian leaders and possibly the PPP not to encourage Indians to enlist.For example the GDF was referred to as Guyana Dog Food. It is interesting to note that when BS Rai was Minister of Home Affairs he made efforts to attract Indians to the GPF and GDF.These efforts were fairly successful but were not continued. Now that the GPF is organized along the Regional system it can be beneficial to recruit and train recruits within the regions with conditions that they remain there thus not affecting their traditional social values.Of course the training has to be monitored.

I like Bharat Jagdeo. Surprised? Do be . I like like him to leave out of Guyana's politics. He is a shrewed politician who, in my view , has a self-serving interest. Until the people of Guyana demand their human rights and freedoms, and force governments and local governments to manage the country in respect of everyone.
